Sheep Amidst Wolves, But NOT Slaughtered

Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves; so be shrewd as serpents and innocent as doves. Matthew 10:16


Christ told us, that in the world we would have tribulation, but not to fear because He overcame the world.  We can all vouch for the truth in this verse about the tribulation, but how are we doing with the fear?  God knew it would be hard for us to walk by faith when we have been given eyes to see.  He knew it would be even more difficult when lies are being flung into our ears. 

He sent Christ to live it out before our very eyes.  But He didn't stop there; Christ lived, and then died it out before our very eyes.  But wait there's more; He then rose up and out before our very eyes. 

Christ did all this to prove a point: It's impossible for God to lie!

 God did this so that, by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled to take hold of the hope offered to us may be greatly encouraged. Hebrews 6:18

We've known since the beginning that Satan is roaming around attempting to get us to believe his lies.  In fact, we are told God is love and when we love each other we are perfected in His love.  He also tells us that perfect love casts out fear; but the one who fears is not perfected in love.

1 John 4:12 tells us this: 

If anyone says, "I love God," yet hates his brother, he is a liar. For anyone who does not love his brother, whom he has seen, cannot love God, whom he has not seen.

Then in Job we are told: 
You are of your father the devil, and you want to do the desires of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning and does not stand in the truth because there is no truth IN him.  Whenever he speaks a lie.....he speaks from his own nature, for he IS a liar and the "father of lies!" Job 8:4

God did not leave us here helpless.  He did not say he was leaving us here as sheep to be slaughtered.  He simply said we'd be among wolves.  But he also said that nothing would in any way harm us in

God said:  Dear children, don't let anyone deceive you about this: When people do what is right, it shows that they are righteous, even as Christ is righteous. 1 John 3:7

Do you think that God is going to just let His name be smeared by not showing up to save us?  He simply doesn't want us to get our hands dirty - remember this isn't our fight.  It is between him and Satan.  It is a supernatural battle ground. Ephesians 6 tells us more:


 

^{10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. 18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests.}

Since we have a God such as this, what type of people ought we to be?  As for me, I am intent on being one who has no lie in her.  I will not fear, nor will I doubt and I will receive the peace which surpasses all understanding.  If I have no lie in me, it is not I but Christ who lives.  You see, without Him, I’m a liar and many more God forsaken things….how embarrassing and humiliating to type!  What about you?
